About Our Kennel
About Us: Our History, Breeding Principles, and Aspirations.
OUR STAFFORDS BRING SMILES AND GOOD MOOD EVERY DAY!
What makes a happy dog for us? It's a dog that gets plenty of walks, is fed well and balanced, plays with its toys, and sleeps next to its loving human.
Guided by this, we ensure a comfortable life for our beloved pets.In our home, dogs live alongside humans, as we are against keeping them in kennels. A big dog family is always friendly and doesn't need resource guarding.
Healthy relationships are the foundation for the new generation. We feed them a natural raw diet (BARF). During trips, we use super-premium dry commercial food. Thanks to the spacious area and a private house, our pets enjoy active and free roaming.
Regular and timely medical care is a must, not just when needed but also bi-annual check-ups - a healthy dog equals a healthy owner's nerves.
Contemporary knowledge
I possess contemporary knowledge in the fields of canine science, zoopsychology, fundamental veterinary principles, anatomy, and breeding. I have completed numerous courses and seminars, earning certificates and diplomas that attest to my competence.
Of course, I engage in discussions about the breed with experienced colleagues from various countries.
Our story
Wishing to have a healthy, active medium-sized dog, our family was introduced to the wonderful breed from England – Staffordshire Bull Terrier. These little, lively, and incredibly devoted dogs quickly became a part of our lives. Our first Stafford arrived from the Czech Republic in 2016.
After an extensive search for a dog that would become the foundation of our breeding program, we finally met our redhead beauty, Kelpie. Smart and elegant, she quickly conquered the show rings in Ukraine and neighboring countries. Her incredible temperament and friendliness left no one indifferent.
From the very beginning to our show victories, Kelpie received personal training from me. She has my heart and a tremendous amount of hard work invested in her.
By the age of 2.5, Kelpie became an Interchampion and Multichampion. She visited four countries and was repeatedly awarded BIG and BIS prizes. Thanks to her fantastic temperament and excellent conformation, Kelpie was truly a show dog. However, as a breeding female, she faced challenges.
This is where my knowledge in veterinary medicine and reproductive science became crucial. Not every dog is suited for successful breeding. Over her lifetime, Kelpie gave us one litter of two puppies – a male and a female. These long-awaited puppies both stayed in our home. Afterward, Kelpie was spayed, as the health and well-being of our dogs always come first.
Now our grandma Kelpie enjoys a well-deserved retirement, continuing to bring daily joy with her boundless positivity and wisdom. She is the head of our canine family, gently but persistently coordinating healthy and harmonious relationships among our dogs.
Well, it's time for the new generation not to disappoint their mother. When our long-awaited puppies turned 5 months old, the COVID-19 pandemic began. During this time, the puppies participated in Ukrainian dog shows, earning Junior Champion of Ukraine and Junior Grand Champion titles. They also started their journey towards adult champions and international champions.
However, our country faced a war. We had to flee from the impending disaster as a family. Time flies, and the dogs keep growing. So, we returned to our show schedule and, within half a year, closed the Interchampion titles for both dogs. Our Siel became a mother for the first time in 2022, giving us three lovely boys.
What was there before the Staffords?
My journey in the field of canine husbandry started long before the inception of the breeding program. It began with the acquisition of our first dog, a French Bulldog named Leoni. Instead of entrusting him to a handler for show exhibitions, I decided to learn and handle him myself.
My passion continued to grow and gradually evolved into a profession. I attended workshops, seminars, and constantly sought to improve my knowledge and discover new techniques. Dog fitness, psychology - it turned out there was a wealth of information behind the beautiful act when a handler gracefully presents a dog to the judge in the show ring.
Numerous qualifications and the experience gained through working as a trainer at a pet complex helped me find my path in the world of canine husbandry - establishing a breeding program.
Focusing on our dogs, and with the knowledge acquired earlier, I shifted my focus on the selection of new dogs. It was no longer just about conformation; it became about anatomy, genetics, physiology, and veterinary care.
As they say, "A breeder must be able to do it all," and that's incredibly accurate. My previous experience as a trainer allows me to work with our puppies from a very early age, instilling in them the correct responses and behavior. My experience as a handler helps assess a puppy's potential from an early age and start training the future champion. Understanding genetics enables me to select breeding dogs in a way that prevents genetic diseases in offspring.
All these diverse aspects come together to form a comprehensive system - the breeding program, with a deep-rooted love for the craft and a profound affection for our animals at its core.
About Kelpie, handling, training...
Our first Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Kelpie, was brought into our home as a breeding female with the intention of becoming the foundation of our breeding program. After a long search for a high-quality dog, our beloved red Staffordshire Bull Terrier finally arrived.
From the very beginning until her show successes, Kelpie was personally handled and prepared by me. She became a labor of love, with a significant amount of work invested, which paid off with remarkable show results and her incredible dedication.
Before the age of 2.5, Kelpie achieved her International Champion and Multi-Champion titles. She visited four countries, charming the show rings with her playfulness and wowing judges. She was a multiple Best in Group and Best in Show winner.
Thanks to her fantastic temperament and excellent conformation, our red star could impress any dog show expert. However, as a breeder, we faced challenges, and that's when my knowledge in veterinary care and reproductive biology came into play. Not every dog can succeed as a breeding dog, and we had to learn this the hard way. Throughout her lifetime, Kelpie gave us just one litter of two puppies – a male and a female. Both of these long-awaited puppies remain in our home.
Following this experience, Kelpie was spayed, as the health and well-being of our dogs always take precedence over breeding. Now, the grand dame Kelpie enjoys her well-deserved retirement and continues to brighten our days with her boundless positivity and wisdom. She's truly the matriarch of our dog family, gently but assertively fostering healthy and proper relationships among our dogs.
The young generation and the year 2023.
Well, it's time for the new generation not to embarrass their mother. When our long-awaited puppies were 5 months old, the coronavirus pandemic began. In the meantime, the puppies traveled to Ukrainian exhibitions and managed to achieve the titles of Junior Champion of Ukraine and Junior Grand Champion. They also started working towards adult champion and international champion titles.
But then, our country was hit by war. Our entire family was forced to flee from the imminent danger that was at our doorstep. Time passed quickly, and the dogs continued to grow. So, we returned to the exhibition schedule, and within six months, we completed the international champion titles for both dogs.
Priorities
Every breeder has their own vision of the ideal dog. Thanks to my extensive attendance at international dog shows and seeing a wide variety of breed representatives, I have a clear understanding of what the ideal Staffordshire Bull Terrier should be. It's this ideal that I strive for.
Unique combinations of pedigrees from Europe, America, and England help maintain the breed's type and temperament. A Stafford should be cheerful, robust, energetic, and non-aggressive – precisely as stated in the breed standard.
